Early Turkey Day

Here it is the day before Thanksgiving, the day promises to be beautiful and the only thing that is on our minds is our golf game this afternoon, our wine cruise, dinner and most importantly the UA basketball playoff game . The weather has been absolutely beautiful with a high predicted for today in the low 80s, in fact it's suppose to be in the low 80s the rest of the week. It's kind of hard to handle that temperature, but we will find a way to get through it.

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving grilled turkey Monday so we can partake in leftovers for the rest of the week. So we will be creative in making turkey dishes, enjoying the cranberry sauce with everything and of course topping off our meals with pumpkin pie (we always make two).

Took some pictures this morning of some of the flowers around the park. Wanted to share some of the brilliant sunshine with colorful flowers.

We have only 3 days left here, as we are heading back to Tucson on Sat. to avoid some of the holiday traffic. It's been a relaxing trip that included beautiful weather, great food, good basketball games and pleasant evening wine cruises.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels wherever you are.

Local Car Auction

We found a car auction in Palm Springs, so we headed out on Friday (since it was free admission on Friday) to look at the cars.
It's a small auction compared to Mecum or Barrett-Jackson, but there were a few interesting cars there.
It seems that Jim is inspecting the "other" make instead of Ford. There were a few Mustangs there, but nothing worth writing about. But a few Chevy's did draw the eye. As you can see by the following picture, the auction was quite small.
Here's a 67 Corvette that Jim enjoyed looking at. It probably only took us about an hour to look at all the cars, but since it was free, how can you beat that.

We've been playing golf every day except Friday. Jim shot an even par round on Thurs, which beat my 3 over par round. Weather has been great with highs in the high 70s and looks to continue throughout next week. The nights get cool though, down in the low 50s, so takes awhile in the morning to warm up enough to go for our walk/bike ride.

It's Sat. so it's Lobster night at the restaurant, looking forward to that. With all these calories we are eating, we need to start exercising first thing in the morning and continue until evening to work them off. So we are heading out soon for our first round of exercise and see how long we can last.

Bragging Rights

Since I am the author of this blog, I have built-in rights to brag all I want!!

Monday the wind finally died down, so it was an absolutely beautiful day. We headed out to the golf course about 1pm to take in all this sunshine. It started out to be a normal day playing golf, but on the 4th hole - I shot a hole-in-one! Of course it is a short hole at about 60 yards, but for me a hole-in-one is a huge feat.
I completed the round 3 over par. So all-in-all, a good day. Of course we celebrated at the restaurant by ordering a very nice bottle of wine.
Tues. was another day in paradise with temps in the high 70s, light wind and plenty of sunshine. Enjoyed our morning walk/bike ride (Jim walks almost 5 miles and I ride my bike for about 11 miles), a round of golf in the afternoon, a cruise on the water for cocktail (wine) hour then dinner. The restaurant is closed on Tues, so grilled a couple of chicken breasts and enjoyed the evening on our patio watching basketball. Of course, Wed. we will perform all these tasks all over again.

Thanksgiving Retreat

We made it to Indio Saturday around 12:30 after an easy (very little traffic) drive. This is our annual trip we make to enjoy the beautiful spot, relaxing boat rides and great food at the restaurant (and many walks and bike rides to work off all the calories).

Watching the Wildcats play Saturday afternoon was quite pleasant since they pulled out a win at the last minute. Since installing HD satellite TV on our trip to Newell, it's so much better. We even didn't have any problems hooking up the patio TV. Amazing! But now I'm having problems with our in-motion satellite.
Then on to our first cruise for the trip where the wine always tastes much better with such beautiful scenery.
Sunset wasn't spectacular, but acceptable. We grilled steaks and enjoyed the evening on the patio.
Sunday morning brought strong winds, so most of the day was spent indoors. But we did get in our morning walk and afternoon round of golf. Enjoyed our evening dinner at the club. Today, the wind has gone away so after getting the coach washed, we will start our routine all over again.

A Thrilling Car Show Day!

Arrived at the Cops & Rodders Car Show this morning at 7:15 with the 2014 Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake and the 1967 Mustang GT500 (the first year produced and the last year produced). As the previous car shows, the awards are determined by all participants' votes for each class. After a long day the awards were finally given out at 3:30.  Jim won 1st in class for the 1967 GT500, which we were surprised because of the competition. But then the 67 is completely stock just like it came off the assembly line in 1967 with no modifications.

Then when the winners of the newer modified class (2014 Super Snake) where announced, Jim was not a winner and we thought for sure he would win something on this car. We stuck around for the award given out for club participation which we are members of the So. AZ Mustang Club which ended up winning for the most participation from one club. Then it was on to the last award for "Best in Class" for the show. When they announced a 2014 Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake  - James Moon - Jim's jaw dropped and we looked at each other in disbelief - "this can't be", but what a thrill. Jim came to his senses and when up an accepted the award. This award is determined by the sponsor's judges, not other participants and up against all the cars in the show.
Here's the police running Jim down to congratulate him on "Best in Show"
Here is one happy couple with the car that won the award.
I don't know if we can top this one.
