Look to the Sky

After a golf round, sipping from a frosty beer mug (ok, maybe we were gulping) sitting quietly on our patio, we were once again encountered with UFOs.
They appeared over the trees and swooped down upon the resort.
And came right in our direction to interrupt our peaceful beer slurping time.
We spotted four total, but to our relief they didn't land but flew off to terrorize other destinations.

Towards the end of our nightly cruise, the sky put on a spectacular color show. It first started out with just a tint of pink colors.
Then the orange showed up.

Turing in another direction the pinks dominate.
We were surrounded by color even reflecting off the water.
This indeed was a spectacular show to end our evening cruise.

The beautiful, warm weather has made this trip quite enjoyable.  The mornings are still chilly, but by the afternoon the sun is bright and the air temperature is in the mid to high 70s, just perfect for a round of golf.  Our days consist of relaxation, golf, cruise and dinner.  If we stayed here much longer, we would need to break down and go somewhere to find some excitement. But at this point, we are quite content as we are.

Last night was Prime Rib night again at the restaurant. Here we are about ready to dive in.

Here is a view of the restaurant (on the 2nd story).
Transportation to the restaurant is via boat across the channel to the docks. After a delicious meal and a couple glasses of wine, we are ready to head back across to the RV.
Here is a picture of the resort entryway trees and gate lit up at night.

A project I worked on, with no resolution at this point, is a problem with the speakers in our motorhome.  This problem has existed for some time and the mfg. was not able to solve it. But I have narrowed it down, which to me it is not logical. When the TV is on satellite the 4 speakers randomly work, sometimes all 4 work, maybe one side works or none work and it is constantly changing, so it fades in and out and from side to side then to all working again.  But if you switch the tuner to either the radio or DVD the speakers work fine.  Now figure that one out! I have checked the connections and everything seems to be fine, but there are so many wires and so little space and access. If anyone can come up with a logical reason why this is happening, please comment below and let me know what you are thinking it might be. I would love to solve this problem so we can watch TV without the constant sound fluctuation.

Friday night we are joining another couple up at the restaurant for dinner, so only two more evenings to ourselves here at the RV.  Then Sunday morning we are heading back to Tucson and back to our normal daily lives.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable New Years Eve and may 2012 bring abundance and prosperity to all in whatever form you create.

Merry Christmas

No new pictures today, I figure you are probably tired of looking at the same resort scenery and birds, so will give you a break today.

Thursday proved to be the coldest day so far, only in the low 60s with blustery winds, which made it feel colder.  Only way to overcome this obstacle? Stay inside, so off on a road trip in the Lincoln 40 miles west to the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, CA.  Never been to this casino before but was quite impressed with the size and the variety of slot machines.  We spent the whole day playing and having fun with a break for a Nathan's hot dog for lunch. Yesterday was back to normal, so our usual schedule of morning walk, afternoon golf, evening cruise then BBQ and dinner out on the patio watching basketball.

Today will begin temperatures in the 70s that will last through next week.  It will be a nice Christmas! Planning a ham on the BBQ with plenty of Christmas cheer and keeping to our normal schedule of walk, golf, cruise and relaxation.

We wish everyone a blessed Holiday Season!

Winter Solstice

In celebration of the winter solstice, here are some early morning shots of the snow covered mountains to our west.

Now I look forward to longer and warmer days. The forecast starting Saturday is to be in the 70s, so this is a start to hopefully an early spring like weather.
During last evening's cruise an UFO was spotted over our beautiful resort.
They almost touched down, then gained elevation again and drifted on by with no attack.
Tonight is prime rib night at the restaurant, but in the meantime, we shall enjoy the beautiful sunshine of this day by playing golf, cruising in the boat and possibly even a bike ride.  Who knows what the day will bring in celebration of longer days to come.

Back to the Western Retreat

Our trip back to Indio on Saturday was uneventful (the best when traveling), with a few showers along the way.  After getting everything set up at the lot, we sat back to enjoy except the weather wasn't ready for us to do that, it decided to sprinkle and got colder, so inside the RV we headed until dinner at the restaurant that evening.

Sunday brought better weather, at least it didn't sprinkle, but the clouds did keep it cooler than the expected 64 degrees.  But the late afternoon brought out the sun and we hopped into the boat for our cruise of the day.  Here are some sites we found along the way.

A few of the boats along the channel were decorated for Christmas.

Our feathered friends came out to greet us as we drifted by.

As the sun started to descend behind the mountains, our evening cruise came to and end. Off to the restaurant again tonight for Italian night and spaghetti and meatballs (the best). Monday promises to be a bright, clear and beautiful day in the mid 60s. More to come!

Another Sabino Canyon Break

After 2 1/2 days of rain, the sun shined bright today radiating its warmth to make the 55 degree temperature seem much warmer.  I just couldn't pass up another beautiful day, so off to Sabino canyon I went with camera in hand. The following is just a sampling of what I found.

Yesterday morning we woke up to find a dusting of snow in the mountains.

With all the rain, the Sabino Creek has increased in volume providing a spectacular show.

The fall colors are still hanging on.
The wildlife is out enjoying the beautiful day.

This doe let me get quite close to her and her young one.

It was a wonderful day enjoying nature's show. Plus it help burn off a few calories from all the Christmas cookies that have been consumed.

Saturday we take off from Tucson and are heading back over to our lot in Indio for two weeks.  The door has been fixed on the casita so hopefully the burglars have gone elsewhere and will not damage our door again.

I welcome you back to our site over the next two weeks to view what we're up to in Indio.

Sabino Canyon Spendor

We pulled into Tucson Monday afternoon, parked the RV in the shop and headed home.  It's always nice to get back home after a trip, but then I always look forward to the next trip by the next day. Tuesday morning brought a brilliant sunrise to greet me back home.

We brought the good weather with us coming back to Tucson.  This week up until yesterday was  beautiful. Wednesday afternoon I packed my camera and water, put on my hiking shoes and headed out to Sabino Canyon for some time in the sun and nature.  These are some of the pictures I took on my hike.

I find that no matter where you travel, nature provides the spectacular setting.
