Waiting to Pack Up

The coach is ready to roll and we are just waiting for a break in Jim’s business so he is comfortable to leave for two weeks.  That means he calls me at anytime and says, “We’re ready to go, pack up and be down here as soon as you can.”  Usually within three hours we are on the road.

Our destination on this next trip will accomplish several goals.  We will stay at an RV park in Lodi, CA, which will give us the opportunity to visit Napa valley for wine tasting, the foothills for wine tasting, Lodi area for wine tasting (notice a trend here?), possibly a trip to Yosemite (my favorite national park) and best of all to visit my sister who lives in Sacramento.

My nephew, Mike, has given me some wonderful suggestions for Napa valley already. He and his wife Lynda frequent the wine region and established close friendships with a few winery owners over the past ten years.  But if anyone has a favorite winery I would appreciate any insights you may have, so please feel free to comment below. It’s been over 20 years since I’ve been to this region, so I’m sure a lot has changed in that time.

We are getting quite antsy since our last trip was in April.  It’s unusual for us to sit this long without a trip, especially over the summer months, but business has been good, so that comes first, then we can enjoy our traveling when there is a break. For now each day I anticipate that phone call that says “Pack Up.”

Our Traveling Home

Before we take off on our next trip (not yet scheduled) a tour of the accommodations are in order to give you the full experience as you go along with our travels.

This is our 45' Newell motorhome, which we call our condo on wheels.  Our tow vehicle, Lincoln MKX, which we hitch behind the coach brings us up to about 65' in total length. The height of the coach is 13'3" so as we plan our route we make sure that all bridges, tunnels and overpasses meet this requirement. The coach is powered by a 625 Cat.

The interior was designed by us using Newell's basic floorplans, so if something is not to your liking, blame us.  There are four slideouts, two in the front living section and two in the rear bedroom, which increases the livings space tremendously.

Pictures just does not do it justice, but you can get a flavor of what it is like, all the comforts of home and then some.  There are three TV's, great sound system throughout plus a theater system in the bedroom.  We have satellite internet so when we are on the road, Jim can keep in contact with the business. A full size refrigerator proves enough room to carry plenty of food, soda and beer and with a separate wine cooler, we are stocked and ready to go.

There is a full size bath in the rear of the coach and a 1/2 bath in the middle.  A stackable washer/dryer makes it convenient to do laundry whenever needed.

So if you like the accommodations, please plan to join us on our travels and experience what it is like to be on  the road.

New blog

This is the first post of hopefully many travel experiences we have in our Moon Ventures' motorhome.  Our limited travels over the past few years included many new and interesting destinations that I know other people might have also enjoyed through a blog.  So with more travels planned for the future, I hope to let others enjoy our experiences along with us as we create our Moon Ventures.  I'm new to setting up blogs, so please be patient as my learning curve develops.  I am always open for comments.
